Bield offer housing and care services for the elderly in Scotland. Their previous website was rather static and difficult to manage. They wanted a new website with a better editor experience that would allow them to better engage with their target audience.
The main aims of this project were:
To deliver this solution we provided a Drupal 7 website. This allowed for a custom backend CMS experience and well as bespoke functionality on the website.
The most prominent feature of the site is the property search. Bield provide housing for sale, rent as well as care homes, and each property has different feature and services. In order to provide residents with the best experience when looking for a property we implemented a bespoke search.
This not only allows users to search for properties based on type, bedrooms or availability but by location. Users can search for properties near to a town, street address or postcode and, when they do, they will be informed just how close a property is to a search location. This is extremely useful for families looking for properties close by. This uses Google’s Maps API to look up locations and relative distances.
Individual property pages provide detailed information about the property, property photos, available services, and even view the property address on Google maps . Each property also contain information about the local area.
For content editors there is a bespoke editing area for properties that is split into tabs. This makes adding and updating properties more streamlined for backend staff.
In addition to providing information for prospective residents there is also information available for current tenants and owners. There are quick links to useful resources, tenants can report repairs through the website and even make payments directly through the site.
